I know many of you are anxious for the Lodge to reopen. The board is meeting on a regular basis and this is a primary discussion. I can assure you if we could open tomorrow we would. Our schedule will be driven by the State of Va, and Moose International. Right now the State has indicated that there will be some loosening of restrictions around 8 May. This is subject to change. As soon as we can open we will make the announcement through this FB page and text msg. In the meantime we will continue to clean, make repairs, and update the lodge and have it ready for your return. We will plan a special event for the lodge once we return. Details of that event will be coming out. In the meantime we appreciate your patience and understanding. If you have any questions please reach out to your board members.
Here is some information about Moose Heart
House of God at Mooseheart is unusual religious edifice
The House of God, believed to be the only cathedral in the world built primarily for the use of children, is the place of worship of roughly 250 youngsters and their caregivers residing at Mooseheart, the famed Child City owned and operated by the Loyal Order of Moose, near Aurora, Ill.
This unusual "Children's Cathedral," built of Lannon and Bedford stone, was dedicated on August 20, 1950, as a church to serve all faiths.
The House of God was the result of a 31-year fundraising drive by the Moose fraternity (interrupted both by the Great Depression and World War II). Total cost was slightly more than $2 million.
Passing through the doors of the main entrance, one enters the narthex. On the right is the War Memorial Room, and on the left is the James J. Davis Memorial Room.
Passing through the next set of doors, one enters the nave of the church. It has a seating capacity of more than 700 persons, and is used by all faiths for their respective services of worship.
On the north of the nave is the Catholic Chapel with several stained-glass windows, each depicting one the seven sacraments. On the south of the nave is the Protestant Chapel with eight stained-glass windows, each portraying one of the eight Beatitudes. Windows in the nave tell the story of the Creation and other Biblical tales.
The stained glass windows were created by the Rambusch Decorating Co., and are considered to be of the finest quality. Cooperating in the creation of the windows were three artists: Joep Nichols, celebrated Dutch master; OlafOlsen, and Stephen Bridges.
The Tower of Tolerance rises 110 feet into the sky and houses the carillons. These can be heard playing "Call to Worship" every Sunday morning.
Clean up continues and the bar is being redone. Going to look great when you come back. Hang in there we are getting closer. Please share with us your thoughts on what we should do for the re-opening.
Due to social distancing and the lodge being closed the location of our blood drive has been changed to the Dumfries-Triangle Volunteer Fire Department located at

Don’t forget the Dale City Moose Riders Social Distancing Night starts at 4PM. Order food to go and post a picture of it on the Dale City Moose’s page. Let’s see how many pics we can get.
If anyone would be interested, and has the time to help us work on our Expired Membership List by making a few phone calls, please comment on this post and I will get you in touch with our Membership Chairman.
With everything that is going on in today's world, your Moose dues are most likely not at the top of your priority list. We just wanted to take a moment of your time to remind you that if your Moose Membership is expiring there are a few ways you can renew it. For a secure, safe, and fast renewal you can do it online. Locate your member identification number on your Moose membership card. To renew your membership, have your number and a credit card ready and go to the Moose Intl.org and simply click "Pay Dues Online". Another option for you would be to call the Member Services Department at 630-906-3658.
The Lodge is closed now and we have been busy working on refreshing the social quarters.
Please think about your membership and how important the Moose Lodge and its members are to the Community, the Children at Mooseheart, and the Seniors at Moosehaven.

Clark Crowley sent out to the lodges yesterday that our planned trip for the Virginia House Girls this summer has been postponed. The health and safety of our girls and their house parents are our first priority. Plans in the works are for them to visit in 2021 once things have calmed down. Let’s make plans for an exciting trip packed full of fun events!

Hope everyone is safe and doing well. I know all of you are anxious to get out of the house, get back to normal, and come back to the Lodge. Trust me, all of you are missed. Just want to update you on a few things. The lodge is undergoing a huge clean up effort. Larry, Teri, Mary, Jen, Kim, Coach, Ed and a few other volunteers (we will recognize them when we return) have done an amazing job. The lodge was painted in January and the kitchen was just painted. The outside has been power washed. The LOOM Board has continued to meet on our regular schedule. We are preparing for a new board to be elected in June. Our membership numbers continue to remain strong and we thank everyone that has renewed on time. We know times are tough, please dont hesitate to reach out to us if you need help. Just a couple of highlights, we are looking to bring back wing night with curbside service (watch this page for details), we continue to move forward with the county to get our bldg permits, we have met all of our qualifications to be a premier lodge for the 2nd year in a row, the board is on the verge of creating for the first time a fiscal year budget to ensure we manage the Lodges assets properly, lastly the Moose International Conference in Milwaukee has been cancelled and it will be held virtually in June.
Continue to keep in contact with the lodge and its members through this page and several other Moose pages that have popped up. Above all else, please be safe, dont take chances, the person you stay away from may be the person that could have passed you the virus. We hope to see you soon.
Don’t forget Dale City Moose Riders virtual poker run tonight. Post a pic with your takeout and you may get lucky.

Our local owned “mom and pop” restaurants are struggling, being limited to only carry-out or delivery. And we haven’t shared any fellowship in quite some time.
This Thursday, Dale City Moose Riders are having a “Virtual Bike Night”. To share some fellowship across the intraweb and support the local businesses, we would like for everyone that can to order some delivery/takeout dinner for Thursday evening from a locally owned food establishment and post a picture of it to the page as a response to this posting: https://www.facebook.com/dalecitymooseriders/posts/1701161153360304
You do not have to be a Moose Rider to participate in this event.
(or reply all to this email with a pic if you aren’t on FB).
It’s an opportunity to support the local businesses that are struggling, and to share some much needed fellowship.

I will be ordering from George’s Pizza in Fredericksburg, a family owned and operated business. I look forward to hearing from y’all and seeing pics of what you are having.
-John “BoyScout” Laine (Secretary DCMR)
P.S. Brothers and Sisters, we are here for each other, if you have a need, please reach out to this group, we support and assist each other.
